A PDF doesn’t contain paragraphs — it contains thousands of individually positioned text fragments. PaperPress groups fragments into lines by their vertical coordinates, orders them left to right, then measures the spacing between lines: a gap larger than the page’s typical line height marks a paragraph break. Those paragraphs are written into a standards-compliant Office Open XML package, which is what a .docx file actually is. Everything happens locally, so confidential reports and contracts stay on your machine.
You get all the text in clean, editable paragraphs. Pixel-perfect layout recovery is impossible for any converter — a PDF stores positioned characters, not document structure — so complex designs are simplified but fully editable.
